Gyeongju is a very popular tourist destination in Korea, because of all the tombs, and temples everywhere. The grassy hills that you see in the photos are burial sites of ancient Korean royalty. The tombs are dotted all over the city and a few are open for viewing. They contained the bodies of the ruler and their personal treasures. One thing we enjoyed about Gyeongju is that we happened to visit during cherry blossom season. The trees branches are lined with many pink and white petals. It adds an element of romance to everything in Korea this time of year.
