Apr 15, 2005 - Day 283 in Cairns, Australia

Sarah writes: We landed in Cairns, Australia at 11pm. The first Australian we met seems to have set a precedent for all Australians we have met thereafter – they are so darn friendly!!! Cheers Mate! The old man who was our taxi driver from the airport was adorable. He went out of his way to give us door to door service. We have come to Cairns at the North East corner of the country and plan to make our way down the eastern “sunshine coast”. The coast is hugged by the famous diving site - the Great Barrier Reef. This reef is “the only living thing that can be seen from space”. I am noticing a theme for Charles here….! I am afraid to encourage him because knowing him we may end up on the next space shuttle.
